Woest Altitude chamber

The WOEST altitude chamber is used to train at altitude and therefore to perform better. The technology ensures that there is less oxygen in the air. This allows you to train very specifically and effectively at height for any sport activity.

You train at altitude and you recover at sea level. As a result, you can significantly improve your power when cycling or increase your running speed, for example. Moreover, this also has a positive effect on your breathing.

To ensure that this form of training is as effective as possible in line with your personal situation, the training is always supervised by WOEST in consultation with the athlete.

More information can be found in the Q&As:

What is a Altitude chamber?

An altitude chamber is a closed space where part of the oxygen is filtered out. You can set the amount of oxygen. The higher you are in the mountains, the less oxygen you take in per breath. So you can also train in an altitude room at a certain height. The room is set to an efficient height for you.

Can I also train in the room on my own schedule?

We will discuss the content of the training sessions with you (and your trainer if you have one). The training sessions are adapted to how you react to training in the altitude chamber. To get the most out of the room, it is important to provide the right training incentives. This requires specific knowledge about training in an altitude chamber. We have that knowledge and we are happy to share it with you, because this valuable training method can also help you further. We train on the basis of certainties: methods that have been scientifically proven and with which we already have a lot of experience.

What are the costs?

The costs depend on the number of people in the room. The room is large enough to allow 3 athletes to cycle at a safe distance from each other. With 3 people the costs are € 299 per person for a training block of 5 days. This includes intensive guidance from our experts and the use of the equipment (ergometers, treadmills, etc.). For 2 people this is € 399 per person and if you come alone it costs € 499. Because we have 2 treadmills for the time being, we can guide a maximum of 2 runners in the room at the same time.

Is an altitude chamber only for top athletes?

Training in an altitude chamber gives a big improvement at every level. Provided the room is used correctly. Expert guidance is essential. Training in the Woest altitude chamber is therefore suitable for every athlete. For example, in any part of the season, to give yourself a boost in your training. Or to prepare for a specific competition or if you want to get back to your old level in a responsible way after an injury.

What equipment is available in the room?

The room contains 2 high-quality treadmills, 2 Wahoo Kickr Bikes and a Tacx NEO bike. These bikes can be adjusted to each person for a perfect seat, just like you are used to on your own racing bike. You can also use your own bicycle and ergometer (eg Tacx or Wahoo) if you prefer that.
In addition, there are accessories that make training in the room more pleasant, such as Wahoo Kickr Desks and Wahoo Kickr Headwinds fans by the bicycles. In addition, you can listen to music or watch TV, but practice shows that this is usually not necessary, because the training sessions are certainly not boring. And of course there is also WiFi in the room, so you can immediately upload your training data to Strava.

Which sports can be trained in the room?

In almost all physical sports you can benefit from training in an altitude chamber. Only not all sports can be specifically trained in a room. For example, javelin throwing and bowling is difficult. But you can also benefit from training in an altitude chamber for those sports. Running and cycling are the most common, but we also see great progress in the studies, for example in team and field sports, after a number of visits to an altitude chamber. We are happy to tell you about it.

What training packages are offered?

If you come to train with us in the Woest altitude chamber, you always start with a 5-day training. That means that you come and train in the room for 5 days in a row (or possibly with 2 rest days in between). A walking training is about 1 hour a day, a cycling training 1.15 hours. During these 5-days we observe you closely and we take you along with all facets of training at height. This is also a basic course on altitude training for you. After a 5-day course you can repeat this a few months later or you can, for example, take a period in which you train at altitude 1 x a week. Everything is tailored to your (training) schedule.
It is also possible, for example, to experience a height chamber in 1 session. If you have other wishes for using the height chamber, we can of course discuss this.

Does it get hot in the altitude chamber?

The room is cooled by air conditioning and fans to achieve an optimal sports climate. But if you are exercising, you can still get quite warm. Therefore always take a towel for sweat and a water bottle with you.
